CCEA clears railway projects worth over Rs 20,804 crore
A centre-based high-level body, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by PM Modi, has cleared 8 railway projects worth Rs 20,804 crore spread across 9 states. These projects span West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, covering 31 districts.
These are railway multitracking projects comprising three initiatives in eastern and central India and five in the south, covering a total length of 1196 km. Some of the major projects to look out for are:
- Kharagpur–Jharsuguda (Bagdehi): Construction of a fourth railway line
- Katni–Pendra Road: Construction of a fourth railway line
- Bilaspur (Uslapur)–Pendra Road: Construction of a third railway line
- Arakkonam–Renigunta: Construction of third and fourth railway lines
- Whitefield–Bangarapet: Construction of third and fourth railway lines covering 77 km
- Hosur–Omalur: Doubling of the railway line covering 147 km
- Salem–Karur–Dindigul: Doubling of the railway line covering 159 km
- Secunderabad (Ghatkesar)–Kazipet: Multitracking of the railway corridor covering 110 km
