Madurai-Thoothukudi rail line project: Souther railway invites bids for survey work
Southern Railway has invited bids for the survey, design, and preparation of tender documents for the proposed Madurai–Thoothukudi new railway line. A tender worth Rs 2.51 crore has been floated for the work, and the selected agency will have four months to complete this pre-construction process.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,600 crore, up from Rs 1,430 crore when it was sanctioned in 2014–15. As part of the pre-construction work, the selected agency will prepare working plans and designs for 35 major and important bridges. It will also prepare plans for 13 road overbridges, underbridges, and limited-use subways.
