Thane Coastal Road Phase II: MMRDA initiates envrionmental clearance process for project worth over Rs 5,140 crore
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA has initiated the process of environmental approval for the proposed Thane Coastal Road Phase II. MMRDA has submitted an application for Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 5,140.92 crore and involves the development of a 7.13 km, six-lane corridor. MMRDA highlighted that the project qualifies as essential public infrastructure and acknowledged that approximately 12.72 hectares of mangrove cover would be affected, with nearly 1,733 mangrove trees proposed for removal.
