Ashok Leyland to invest Rs 1,000 crore in battery manufacturing and electric mobility
Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has plans to invest Rs 800 crore to Rs 1,000 crore during FY27 in battery manufacturing and electric mobility as part of its long-term strategy. The firm is looking to accelerate initiatives across battery production, electric mobility and alternate fuel technologies.
As part of the plan, the firm broke ground on a greenfield battery pack manufacturing facility in Chennai earlier this year. Ashok Leyland has already outlined plans to invest Rs 5,000 crore over seven to 10 years to develop a domestic battery ecosystem. The execution will be done in partnership with China’s CALB Group.
