Lara thermal project: NTPC approves Rs 20, 457 crore for stage 3
Government-owned NTPC Limited's board has approved the Lara Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2x800 MW). The project is estimated to cost 20,456.70 crore and will have two 800 MW thermal power units, bringing the total approved capacity under the project to 1,600 MW.
Further, the board approved to invest in overseas uranium mines to secure the supplies needed to fuel 30 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity over the next couple of decades. A tender is issued to appoint consultants to help identify potential assets in uranium-mining countries, including Canada, Australia, Kazakhstan, and South Africa.
