NLC India and NALCO form joint venture for new thermal plant in Odisha
Government-owned National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed an agreement to form a joint venture (JV) with NLC India Limited (NLCIL). The JV is for the development of a 1,080 MW captive thermal power plant at Angul in Odisha.
The plan is to develop a 4×270 MW thermal captive power plant for which a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NALCO will be signed by the JV, ensuring 100% of the electricity generated is supplied to the aluminium producer. Further, the JV will also enter into a Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) with NLC India for long-term coal supply.
