Modified UDAN scheme: Government plans to develop 100 new airports
The Union Government plans to develop 100 new airports across India over the next 10 years under the Modified UDAN scheme. Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu said the government will spend Rs 30,000 crore on the expansion as demand for air connectivity continues to grow.
In addition, 200 modern helipads will be developed to improve connectivity in hilly, remote, island, and aspirational regions. The Regional Connectivity Scheme-Modified UDAN was announced in March this year, with an outlay of Rs 28,840 crore for the financial years 2026–27 to 2035–36.
