Tamil Nadu to develop a new Secretariat complex with an investment of Rs 1,200 crore
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has announced that the state government will develop a new integrated Secretariat and Legislative Assembly complex in Chennai. Spread across 2 million sq. ft., the project is estimated to require an investment of Rs 1,200 crore.
Foreshore Estate, Guindy, and Nandambakkam were shortlisted as potential sites for the complex. Foreshore Estate has since been identified as the location for the project.
Until the new complex is completed, CM Vijay is planning to shift his office from the Fort St George building to a conference hall measuring around 5,000 sq. ft. in the adjacent Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai.
