Indian Railways to float tender for hydrogen trains
Indian Railways is in a fast-track mode for the transition to hydrogen trains. It plans to float tenders for procuring 35 trains powered by green fuel. The estimated cost of acquisition is around Rs 2,800 crore.
Railways have reportedly held meetings with major players including Siemens, Cummins, Hitachi, BHEL, and Medha Servo, with multiple manufacturers showing interest.
