Vadinar ship repair facility: Government approves Rs 1,570 crores for the project
The Prime Minister-led Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the state-of-the-art ship repair facility at Vadinar, Dwarka, Gujarat. The CCEA has approved Rs 1,570 crore for the project, which will be jointly implemented by Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) and Cochin Shipyard under the aegis of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
Under the partnership, DPA will invest Rs 650 crore to develop civil infrastructure, including a 650-metre jetty. Cochin Shipyard will invest about Rs 920 crore in ship repair infrastructure, including two large floating dry docks, and operate the facility. The project will be able to repair vessels up to 300 metres in length.
