Government plans to launch PLI scheme for solar manufacturing
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is planning to launch a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to boost domestic polysilicon manufacturing. As per the government, the aim is to boost production, reduce import dependence, and strengthen India's integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem.
This scheme can cover more than 10 GW of production capacity, giving a boost to India's target of 500 gigawatts (GW) of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030.
