India plans to deploy hyrdogen trucks and buses as part of pilot prorgam
The Indian government is looking to deploy 70 hydrogen vehicles (including trucks and buses) as part of the pilot program. Ministry of Renewable Energy (MNRE) has approved 21 pilot projects with an outlay of $43 million.
The aim is to assess the technical and economic viability of hydrogen-fuelled transport; the programme will deploy 27 buses and 43 trucks across 12 consortium-led projects spanning 21 freight corridors and public transport routes. Both hydrogen fuel cell and hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) technologies will be tested.
NTPC, NHPC, Indian Oil Corporation, KPI Green Energy, Waree Group, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Volvo, and Indify Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies are among the companies participating in the pilot projects.
