Kendrapara shibuilding cluster: Project worth Rs 24,700 crore gets approval of central government
Government of Odisha's ambitious Kendrapara shipbuilding cluster project has received in-principle approval from the Central government. The project, worth Rs 24,700 crore, has received approval under the Shipbuilding Development Scheme (SDS).
The plan covers a dedicated waterfront of about two to 2.5 km and a land area of 2,000 to 2,500 acres. National Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Park Odisha Ltd (NSHIPOL) is the authority that received approval for the project. This project will come up along the northern bank of the Mahanadi, opposite the Iffco plant in Paradip, and is expected to create an integrated ecosystem for shipbuilding, ship repair, and associated heavy industries.
