PM Modi inaugurates new terminal building at Jodhpur, launches modified UDAN scheme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport. The project was developed with an estimated cost of Rs 480 crore and has the capacity to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually.
The PM also launched the Modified UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) Scheme. This scheme has been allocated Rs 28,840 crore over the next 10 years to strengthen regional air connectivity. Of the total amount, Rs 12,159 crore has been earmarked for developing 100 airports from existing unserved airstrips over the next eight years.
Rs 2,577 crore allocated for Operation and Maintenance (O&M) support for around 441 aerodromes during their initial years of operation. Rs 10,043 crore has been set aside as Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for airline operators over 10 years. Rs 3,661 crore will be allocated over eight years for the development of 200 modern helipads.
