Union Government approves semiconductor projects worth Rs 1.64 lakh crore
The Union government has given its approval to semiconductor manufacturing projects worth around Rs 1.64 lakh crore. These approvals have come under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and cover 12 projects.
Out of the 12 projects, one is a semiconductor fabrication unit, two compound semiconductor fabrication units, and nine packaging units. This approval takes the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, announced in the Union Budget 2026-27, a step further. The ISM at its foundation aims for the establishment of a shared compute facility with over 45,000 GPUs.
