Government plans to have 900 GW transmission network in next 10 years
Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Ghanshyam Prasad has said the Union Government is planning to expand India’s renewable energy footprint, with a transmission network of around 900 GW of capacity by 2035-36.
According to Prasad, the focus will be on pumped-storage systems, batteries and grid-forming technologies to manage the variability associated with higher penetration of clean energy.
The plan is aligned with India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030.
