Chennai-Puducherry sea link project: Tamil Nadu government plans to bridge 200 km distance
The Tamil Nadu government’s State Highways and Small Ports Department plans to develop a sea-link corridor from Ennore via Mamallapuram to Puducherry. The proposed project will cover approximately 200 km and is expected to boost tourism and commuter travel while improving industrial connectivity between ports.
The Tamil Nadu government is also exploring the feasibility of launching a commuter boating service along the same route in coordination with the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Puducherry government. In addition, the government has announced plans for a new elevated corridor from Light House in Santhome to the Thiru Vi Ka Bridge in Adyar.
