L&T's consortium with Mitsubishi bags order for project at Dubai airport
Multinational engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T), in consortium with Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has secured an order from Dubai Aviation City Corporation for work related to Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport. According to L&T’s order classification, the project falls under the ‘large’ category, with an order value ranging from Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore.
The project involves the design and construction of an Automated People Mover (APM) system for Phase 1 of Al Maktoum International Airport. L&T will be responsible for the design, procurement, delivery, and integration of critical APM infrastructure and systems. Its scope of work includes guideways, DC traction substations, power distribution, signalling and telecommunications, onboard vehicle communication systems, platform screen doors and depot equipment.
The project is part of a planned multi-phase expansion, under which Al Maktoum International Airport is eventually expected to handle 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of freight annually.
