Lockheed Martin and Tata broke ground for MRO facility in benagluru
US defence giant Lockheed Martina and Tata Advanced Systems performed the groundbreaking ceremony of a new maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in Bengaluru. This MRO will service C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft.
The facility will handle heavy maintenance, component repair, overhauls, structural checks, avionics upgrades, and structural restoration for the C-130J fleet. It will also enable expanded training for Indian engineers and maintainers, and open new avenues for domestic suppliers in the C-130 supply chain.
This move is strategic as it comes as the Tata-Lockheed Martin joint venture is pitching the C-130J Super Hercules for the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) upcoming mega procurement of around 80 heavy-lift transport aircraft.
