Railway approves Rs 206 crore for Kavach deployment in sections of Northern Railway
Indian Railways has approved Rs 206 crore for the deployment of Kavach Version 4.0, India's indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system. This deployment will be on 680 route kilometres (RKm) of the Rewari-Delhi and Shakurbasti-Bathinda sections, with coverage extending to the feeder branch lines.
According to the railways, the new Kavach is designed to prevent Signal Passed at Danger (SPAD) incidents and train collisions by continuously monitoring train movements and automatically applying the brakes.
